To be honest, I don't know all that will be happening but it should be awesome. It's a collaboration between musicians, dancers, visual artists, video artists (I think), and possibly other cool folks. I'll give you more detailed information soon, but until then you know as much as I do! I do know one other bit of information though. Emily Beattie (dancer/choreographer) is organizing this whole sha-bang! :)
Composer Eva Kendrick, a 2006 graduate of the Longy School of Music, will present her chamber work "Disir" at the brand new Longy Alumni Concert Series. Reed Ferenbaugh, along with Ferenbaugh, Longy alumns Rachel Arnold, cello, and Noell Dorsey, soprano as well as James Delorey, percussion. Other performers on the program will include Sara Bielanski, mezzo-soprano, and William Merrill, piano performing North and South by John Harbison, the early music ensemble Seven Times Salt, trombonist Mark Broschinsky and pianist Aaron Butler. This performance is a somewhat-modified version of a concert given at the ArtSpace Gallery on August 30, 2009 in Hartford, CT. On August 2, 2009 at 3PM, composer Nolan Stolz (www.nolanstolz.com) had put out a call for any willing and/or able being to write a piece for flute and cello (or solo pieces for those instruments). The rules were that the composers had exactly one hour to write and submit the piece to the performers, and the performers were to have exactly one hour to rehearse each piece between that day and the concert. At 4PM on August 2nd, flutist Ashley Addington (www.AshleyAddington.com) and cellist Rachel Arnold (www.LadyRayCello.com) were happy to receive a slew of freshly-written works in their email inboxes. Composers from all over the country submitted their pieces, and ten miniatures were chosen to be performed. After the concert, composers Christopher Gainey (www.christophergainey.com) and Jim Scully (www.jimscully.com) were asked if they were interested in extending their pieces into larger works, and tonight is the premiere of those pieces.
The amazing pianist Danny Holt will also be performing and promoting his new album.
